Ruiz appeared to pull up on while running to third after Wilson Valdez hit a double to right field. He was safe at third but immediately exited the game as he limped into the dugout.

Paul Hoover took over on the basepaths and behind the plate.

Ruiz entered the game improbably leading the majors in on-base percentage (.481) in 27 games this season. He is batting .354 with a pair of home runs and 11 RBI in his fifth season in the big leagues.
