Portsmouth's Adams rejects Nugent links

Soccer Betting Lines

12/11/2008 - Portsmouth, England (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Portsmouth manager Tony Adams has dismissed reports linking striker David Nugent with a move to Everton.

Nugent, 23, is reported to be wanted by the Toffees to help fill the void created by the season-ending injury suffered by Yakubu.

Nugent remains well down the pecking order at Fratton Park after struggling with form and fitness following his $10.3 million move from Preston North End in August 2007.

But Adams insists the former Bury striker still has a future at the South Coast club.

"Everton have not contacted us and he hasn't said he wants to go," he told the club's official website. "He supported Everton as a boy and sometimes the press put two and two together and come up with five.

"At the moment chances are limited for him but he's reacting really well in training and working hard.

"He's part of my squad and there will be opportunities for him."
