Stamps sign WR Bauman

01/18/2012 - Calgary, AB (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Calgary Stampeders signed wide receiver and former first-overall pick Chris Bauman on Wednesday. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Chris has demonstrated that he a solid CFL receiver during his career and we look forward to seeing him at training camp," said Stamps' head coach and general manager Jon Hufnagel. "We are happy to be able to add to our Canadian depth at the receiver position."

Bauman spent last season with the Edmonton Eskimos, totaling 11 catches for 132 yards in just five games.

The 27-year-old was selected as the top pick in the 2007 draft by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, recording 114 receptions for 1,511 yards and six touchdowns in four seasons there.

"I'm happy to join the Stampeders organization and I'm looking forward to working with the Calgary coaching staff and my new teammates," said Bauman. "The Stamps are always one of the top teams in the CFL in recent years and I will do everything I can to help continue that tradition of success. I'm very grateful for this opportunity."

Huskers' Lucky hospitalized for undisclosed reason

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska running back Marlon Lucky was hospitalized Monday for undisclosed reasons after Lincoln police responded to a call at his residence.

The Nebraska athletic department said in a release Monday that Lucky was admitted Sunday night.

A nursing supervisor at the hospital said all questions about Lucky were being referred to the athletic department. The athletic department said there would be no further comment from the department or Lucky's family.

A Lincoln Police spokesman said officers responded to a call at Lucky's residence 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The spokesman said he didn't know Lucky's condition at the time he was taken to the hospital.

Lucky, from North Hollywood, Calif., started six games last season as a sophomore and was the team's second-leading rusher, with 728 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 32 passes for 383 yards. He averaged 19.1 yards on eight kickoff returns.
